Pre-wedding shoot with photographer
A pre-wedding portrait shoot is included in my service and as I am based in Hertfordshire, this usually takes place in Hertfordshire, and from the selection of shots taken, you can choose your favourite portrait to be mounted onto board to be signed at your wedding by your guests. If you would prefer, this portrait will be in a presentation folder.
A major benefit to having your portrait taken by a photographer prior to your wedding day is that we will get to know each other a little better and I have been told numerous times by couples that they felt a lot more relaxed and confident with their photographer on their wedding day as a result of this shoot. I would recommend it for this reason, but it's entirely optional.
Meeting your photographer
When we get together for the pre-wedding portrait shoot, this is normally an ideal time to discuss your photographs and your wedding photographer arrangements in detail. Whilst I have plenty of ideas and suggestions for photographs from 25 years experience of photography in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, I always appreciate it is your wedding and your photographs and I want to hear your preferences and requests.
Colour or Black and White?
All photographs are taken digitally by your photographer in colour and any can then be converted by your photographer to black and white or sepia, or spot colour as you wish.
Bride getting ready
On the day your wedding photographer normally begins at the brides home or hotel an hour or two prior to your ceremony and continues either up to the point at which you sit down for your meal, or first dance, depending on which service you book.
The photographer taking shots of getting ready at home is of course up to you. Some brides love having pictures during the getting ready process and this can be a great opportunity for some relaxed shots with your bridesmaids and family. Other brides prefer their wedding photographer to begin when they are ready. The choice is yours.
Depending on logistics, I can cover the groom getting ready as well, usually if it's at the same hotel as the bride, or his home is close by. I would cover the groom, best man and ushers arriving at church, along with your guests.
Church and reception
I will stay with you either until you sit down for your meal, until the speeches, or until first dance depending on which option you choose. You can then choose a wedding storybook album (see an example here), or a classic album.
If you have any questions about your photographer I would be delighted to answer them.
