A Natural Wedding Photograper

I have been a full time professional wedding and portrait photographer since 1983. I am a past winner of a coveted national Kodak Portrait Award. My creativity, an eye for capturing a moment, and a natural ease with people, makes me a natural for wedding and portrait photography.

I had my first camera when I was 8, a Kodak instamatic, which used square flashbulbs that only lasted 4 shots and I regarded my first electronic flashgun as an absolute luxury. For many years I developed and printed my black and white photographs in a darkroom. There was a magic seeing an image appear in a tray of developer - sadly something todays 'digital generation' will never experience.

My professional career began in 1983 in High Wycombe, where I was born and grew up. I spent two years at a local studio before moving to a company with studios in the Midlands and East Anglia and I spent the next two years managing studios and photographing weddings and portraits in Kings Lynn, Lincoln, Cambridge, Leeds, Derby, Nottingham and Luton. During this time I particularly enjoyed photographing weddings at many of the beautiful and historic colleges at Cambridge University.

25 Years of Excellence

I opened Glen Smith Studios in 1987 and have specialised in wedding and portrait photography ever since, although I have also undertaken press and PR photography, business portraits, modelling portfolios, event photography and publicity shots for actors and musicians.

My energy and enthusiasm remain as strong as ever and I still particularly love photographing weddings. I was one of the first photographers to have a website (before the age of digital photography) and was also one of the first to go fully digital in 2000. I also worked as consultant to other photographers making the transition to digital photography.

The Great and The Good

I have photographed over 1000 weddings, and people from all walks of life; the rich and famous, MP's, Mayors, businessmen and women, celebrities, actors, singers, musicians, the Great Britain Paralympic Team, European, British and world champion athletes, Olympic gold medallist and the England football team. Among my favourite subjects have been Sir Bobby Robson (when he was England football manager), the late Buster Merryfield (Uncle Albert in BBC's Only Fools and Horses) and the ever popular singers, Chas and Dave. I have also undertaken consultancy for other photographers, training them in wedding photography and digital techniques.

I also design websites and undertake website development and search engine optimisation.

Weddings Nationwide

I have photographed weddings all over the country, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the South Coast. I work mostly in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, but also frequently travel to Buckinghamshire, Essex and London and also to Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and the Home Counties.
